Privacy Policy

This policy was last updated on July 30, 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains how Nearvoya ("Nearvoya," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your given name, family name (optional), date of birth, email address, and password. We ask for your date of birth to confirm you are at least 18 years old, since Nearvoya is not available to anyone younger.

Profile information. You may add the languages you speak and are learning, your proficiency levels, a display name, and other profile details you choose to provide.

Listing and booking information. If you host, we collect the details of your listing, including location, pricing, availability, and photos. If you book, we collect the details of your request, including dates, party size, and any information you send the host.

Verification information. Some listing categories may require ID verification. If you complete verification, we collect the documents or information you submit (for example, a government-issued ID) and store them in a restricted, access-controlled location. We do not currently use a third-party verification vendor; verification requests are reviewed by our own team.

Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your full card number on our own servers. Stripe provides us with limited information needed to operate the Service, such as confirmation that a payment succeeded and the last four digits of a card.

Messages. If you message another user through the Service, we store the content of that message. Before a booking is confirmed, we automatically remove phone numbers and email addresses from messages to keep contact information from being exchanged off-platform prematurely.

Location information. If you search for or create a listing, we collect the location you provide or search from and convert it to map coordinates using a geocoding service.

Usage information. We collect standard technical information necessary to operate the Service, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit, primarily through server logs.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to: operate and maintain the Service; process bookings and payments; verify eligibility and identity where required; communicate with you about your account, bookings, and requests; detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms and Conditions; and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not currently use advertising or analytics services that track you across other websites. If that changes, we will update this policy before doing so.

How We Share Information

We share information with the following categories of service providers, each of which processes information on our behalf and only for the purposes described in this policy:

Supabase, Inc. — hosts our database, authentication, and file storage, including profile data, booking records, messages, and verification documents.

Stripe, Inc. — processes payments, holds funds in escrow between authorization and capture, and pays out hosts. Stripe has its own privacy policy governing the payment information it collects directly from you.

Resend — delivers transactional emails, such as booking confirmations and account notifications.

Vercel Inc. — hosts and serves the Service.

A geocoding provider (OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service) — converts addresses you enter into map coordinates. Only the location text you submit is sent to this provider, not your account information.

We may also share information if required by law, to protect the rights, property, or safety of Nearvoya, our users, or the public, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will require the recipient to honor the commitments in this policy.

Other users see the information you choose to make part of your public profile or listing, and the content of messages you exchange with them through the Service.

Cookies

We use only the cookies necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the Service securely. We do not currently use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Financial records related to completed transactions may be retained longer where required by law or by our payment processor.

Your Rights and Choices

You can access and update most of your profile information directly from your account settings.

You may request deletion of your account at any time. When you do, we anonymize your account: identifying information such as your name and contact details is removed or replaced with a placeholder, your Stripe customer record is deleted, and contact information is stripped from your past messages. Some records — for example, completed transaction history needed for tax, accounting, or legal purposes — are retained in anonymized form rather than deleted outright, since removing them entirely could break the integrity of other users' records (such as a host's payout history).

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information, such as the right to access, correct, or receive a copy of it. You can exercise any of these rights by contacting Nearvoya Legal.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to, and is not available to, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold, including access controls on sensitive records like verification documents. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Service or by other reasonable means before the changes take effect.
